DC MURAL

In the heart of Washington, D.C., a prominent wall on Florida Avenue will be transformed into a monument to the people’s power.

This large-scale non partisan mural affirms a simple truth: democracy—and the nation itself—belongs to the people. Help us change the visual language of our streets and inspire civic action by donating today!

Created in collaboration with Local Democracy Action; artist, Army veteran, and former U.S. Senate aide ESSAM; and People For the American Way Foundation—our fiscal sponsor and a 501(c)(3) organization—the mural will bring Franklin D. Roosevelt’s urgent reminder to the streets: “The ultimate rulers of our democracy... are the voters of this country.”

This mural is a reminder that power is reclaimed not through division or violence, but through humanity, and participation. At a time when democracy can feel distant, this work returns it to the hands of voters, inspiring engagement and affirming that real change begins at the local level. At the intersection of civic action and creative resistance, the mural will spark conversation, summon courage, and anchor a movement rising from the ground up.
